Local Community Breast Cancer Screening, Treatment and Education Grants

Grant History 1995 – 2017 – Local Awards total over $6 million with an additional $1.4 million to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Grant Fund.

Fiscal Year 2018/2019 Komen New Orleans Awarded Grants ~ Total $275,000 and approximately $130,000 to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Grant Fund.

St. Thomas Community Health Center ~ $126,000
Funding for breast cancer screening mammography for uninsured/underinsured, underserved women age 40-74 years old.

Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans (CAGNO) ~ $40,000
Provide qualified breast cancer patients access to medical care by helping pay for insurance premiums, deductibles, co-pays, prescriptions and transportation.

West Jefferson Medical Center Women’s Imaging & Breast Care Center ~ $22,650
Funding for breast cancer screening, diagnostic mammograms, and breast ultrasounds.

Mary Bird Perkins at St. Tammany Parish Hospital Cancer Program ~ $21,000
Funding for screenings, mobile mammography, navigation, clinical breast exams.

Access Health Louisiana ~ $20,350
Provide at-risk women with breast health education, clinical breast examinations, and mammogram screenings.

University Medical Center (UMC) ~ $20,000
Funding for improved patient compliance with management of lymphedema in the acute and chronic phases with compression garments and supplies.

West Jefferson Medical Center Outpatient Rehabilitation Dept ~ $15,000
Funding for breast cancer survivor lymphedema compression garments and rehab.

Daughters of Charity Health Centers ~ $10,000
Funding to provide free or low-cost screening services.
